One winter night, Toledo Express’s Tower received a transmission from a GA aircraft requesting to land on the snow beside the runway.
When asked why, the pilot responded that he had no wheels. Thinking the aircraft’s landing gear had failed, the controllers nervously awaited the aircraft as an emergency crew gathered by the runway.
The tower was not at all amused when the plane finally appeared with no landing gear, but instead with skis.
