yes it sucks air in, then compresses it, then mix it with fuel, then it burns and expands causing the air to blow out the exhaust with great speeds, and funny enough, the air pressure right in the intake and in the exhaust is about the same, one atmos. it speeds the air up so it can follow newtons law on action/reaction
