You pull out of your driveway and start to drive with your car centered on the dashed line
You spend so much time scanning for (airplane) traffic when driving that you forget there’s a truck comming toward you
You pull into the parking lot and start turning off the radios, electrical equipment, and saying where’s the dang mixture?
You use your car’s parking break just before reaching your destination
You roll down the window and shout “CLEAR” before starting your car
You break through left turns and accelerate through right turns
You get really nervous about the skids around corners
You drive home from work – you start sequencing cars for the approach at a four way stop sign
You drive into a fog bank and immediately start to stare at the dashboard
You start logging the odometer readings on your car
You are lost in a strange city and you let go of the wheel and get out your map without pulling over or stopping
You tell the cop who pulled you over that you are allowed to go up to 250 below 10,000′
As you’re merging onto the highway, you pull back on the wheel and don’t get airborne. In panic, you abort the takeoff, and hit the breakes (This drives the guy in close trail with you crazy)
You get out of your car and start looking for the tiedown ropes.
I’ve actually done this a multiple of times IRL… is this a bad thing? :/
I actually had this happen to me: you try to slow down the car by pulling back on the steering wheel.
You drive home from work – you start sequencing cars for the approach at a four way stop sign

sigh… i do this already….
(not a pilot, so its even sadder…. maybe it just comes second nature to an ATC)
When I got married, I started flight school and started driving my wife’s stick shift at the same time. 2-3 months later I was approaching a stop sign in my automatic transmission truck and freaked out for 1-2 seconds. I knew that since I was slowing down I either had to add flaps or clutch in !! I did neither but I did start to reach for the flap handle!
I was taking ground school years ago and it was hot outside, so somebody turned on a fan. Now, the pitching sounds of fan blades sound much like a propeller. So I reflexively reached for my seat belt which of course wasn’t there.
How about this?
“You sit in your car in the parking lot after work, anxiously waiting for pushback”…
Great list!
when I stop at a red light or stop sign I call out “holding short”
Or…
While approaching a green light at speed you say to yourself, “Approaching”
And when/if it turns yellow… making a decision… “Going” or “Stopping”
and as you pass thru the intersection under and yellow or green light… “Clear”
Nobody else? No one? Alrighty… Just me
.. after a long day of flying , back in my stick shift car , making a Left Turn out of the parking lot …wondered why the car stopped moving …..
When a cop who pulls you over on the road asks “do you know how fast you were going?” and the first thing that comes out of your mouth is “my airspeed indicator read 55 knots when I passed you officer.” “What?” “this thing, what do you guys call it…. speedometer! That’s it!”
i do this out of habit from flight sims. whenever i look up a city, the first thing i want to know is the airport code. I already know them for all my locals.
Thats what I was going to say. Breakes? Comming?
