On March 2, 2019, a C-17 strategic airlifter of USAF 452nd Air Mobility Wing suffered bird strike when a bird was sucked into one of its engines while it was taking off for a demo flight during Australian International Airshow held at Avalon Airport.

Avalon Airport is notorious for having hawks gliding and hanging around the runways.

Unfortunately, one of them was sucked into the massive jets of the mighty C-17.

The aircraft immediately aborted the run and safely returned to its hangar.

The extent of damage was not published, but the aircraft wasn’t available for another planned flight of the following day.
