Have you ever wondered why so many of the Soviet-origin aircraft have this weird green/blue color. Yeah, it’s blue, right? Or is it green? Or cyan?

Supposedly the colors were chosen by designers as soothing to the pilot to reduce stress in combat situations or on long missions and the more logical reasoning is that it was chosen to make exterior/interior contrast easier. Black/gray buttons might not be as easy to see clearly on a black/gray background, particularly with all of the other potential mental stresses of flying a fighter jet. That green color could provide plenty of visual contrast, not just with the default buttons, but also with other potential emergency/warning colored lights, like red or yellow. It seems like a pretty good color in that regard.
